by TicketScanner Team
Key Takeaways
- The Los Angeles Angels had the cheapest MLB tickets of 2026, with a $6 median get-in price, according to TicketScanner’s daily price tracking of 520 home games from May 22 to Sept. 13, 2026. The Miami Marlins ($12) and New York Mets ($13) were next.
- The Los Angeles Dodgers ($59) and Boston Red Sox ($58) were the most expensive, about 10 times the Angels. The Toronto Blue Jays ($49) and Chicago Cubs ($48) were the only other teams above $40.
- The typical MLB game had a $23 get-in on game day or the day before, and 10 teams had a median of $17 or less.
- Team performance alone did not explain the price differences. The Milwaukee Brewers had the best record in baseball (93-57 as of Sept. 13) and a $21 median, while the Mets, 69-80 after a season that began with World Series hopes, sat at $13.

Source: TicketScanner daily price tracking, 520 completed home games, May 22 to Sept. 13, 2026; get-in on game day or the day before. Ballpark notes: the Athletics played in West Sacramento except for a June 8-14 homestand at Las Vegas Ballpark; the Rays returned to Tropicana Field in 2026 after a season at George M. Steinbrenner Field; the field at Dodger Stadium became UNIQLO Field in 2026, but the stadium keeps its name.
Seventeen teams had a median below the $23 league-wide median, two sat on it, and 11 were above it. The Red Sox’s cheapest tracked game ($38) cost more than the median get-in of 24 other teams, while the single cheapest game in the sample was a $4 Angels game.
How TicketScanner measured this
The get-in price is the cheapest ticket listed for a game across the resale marketplaces TicketScanner monitors, in U.S. dollars and before fees. TicketScanner records it once a day, at about 9 a.m. ET, for every game it tracks.
For this ranking we used 520 home games played between May 22 and Sept. 13, 2026, and took each game’s get-in on game day or the day before. Each team’s figure is the median across its tracked games, so one giveaway night or rivalry series does not move it much. The league-wide $23 is the median across all 520 games.
Coverage is partial. TicketScanner tracks a subset of each team’s home schedule, not every game: 10 to 29 games per team, from the Athletics (10) to the Orioles (29). Games before May 22 and the season’s final two weeks are not included. We do not publish each team’s single most expensive game, because one outlier listing can distort it.
The cheapest MLB teams in 2026
Los Angeles Angels, $6 median. The Angels were eliminated on Sept. 7, extending MLB’s longest active playoff drought to 12 seasons; their last postseason was 2014. Angel Stadium lists 45,517 seats, plenty of supply for a losing team. A preseason Doc’s Sports study using a different method also ranked the Angels cheapest.
Miami Marlins, $12 median. The Marlins were 74-76 as of Sept. 13, close to .500, and still near the bottom of the list. They were also the lowest-priced team in Gametime’s preseason 2025 median resale ranking and second-cheapest in the Doc’s Sports study, so Miami’s low floor looks structural.
New York Mets, $13 median. This is the surprise. The Mets “were thinking about playing in the World Series when the season started,” as Field Level Media put it in May, and instead were 69-80 as of Sept. 13. A disappointing season in a big market produced one of the cheapest tickets in baseball.
Reds and Rangers ($14), Orioles and Tigers ($16), and Royals, Cardinals and Astros ($17) round out the 10 teams at $17 or less. The Orioles (29 games) and Royals (28) had the largest samples, so their medians are among the most reliable.
The most expensive MLB tickets in 2026
Los Angeles Dodgers, $59 median. The Dodgers beat the Blue Jays in seven games in 2025 for a second straight World Series title. Dodger Stadium is the biggest ballpark in the majors at 56,000 seats and still had the highest median, with a $33 cheapest game. Demand here outruns even the largest supply.
Boston Red Sox, $58 median. Fenway Park seats 37,755, one of the smaller capacities in MLB. Boston’s $38 lowest game was the highest floor of any team: there was no cheap night at Fenway in the tracked sample.
Toronto Blue Jays, $49 median. Toronto won the 2025 American League pennant, coming back from a 2-0 series deficit against Seattle. The Jays were 75-75 as of Sept. 13, 2026, and the price held anyway. Our reading is that demand follows last season’s run for a while before catching up to the standings.
Chicago Cubs, $48 median. The Cubs were 83-67 as of Sept. 13, and an Action Network family-cost study, as summarized by Statista in April 2026, ranked them the most expensive team for a game night once parking and concessions are added.
Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Guardians, $39 each. Neither is a big market, and both were near .500 as of Sept. 13 (75-75 and 76-74). Pittsburgh has Paul Skenes, the unanimous 2025 NL Cy Young winner, and the Doc’s Sports study also ranked the Pirates sixth-most expensive. Cleveland’s Progressive Field seats 34,820, one of the smallest capacities in the league, and its $24 floor was fourth-highest. Treat both as likely factors, not proven causes.
Why MLB ticket prices differ by team
Four factors appear to drive most of the spread, and contention matters less than most fans assume. This is our reading of the data, not a measured model.
Winning helps less than brand. The three best records as of Sept. 13 belonged to the Brewers (93-57), Rays (90-59) and Dodgers (90-59). Their medians were $21, $21 and $59. A winning team in a mid-sized market still had a cheap floor.
Losing hurts more. The Angels and Mets suggest a bad season can thin out resale demand. The exception is Colorado: the Rockies had the worst record in baseball (55-94) and still sat at the $23 league median.
Ballpark size sets the supply. The Athletics were 61-89 and still had a $30 median in Sutter Health Park, a Triple-A park that lists 13,416 seats. Gametime’s preseason 2025 data, as reported by Nexstar, put the Athletics at the top of its median resale ranking, and the report tied that to the smaller minor league stadium. The Yankees, 86-63, had only a $25 median in 46,537-seat Yankee Stadium.
Opponents and rivalries set the top end. The Doc’s Sports study found Yankees and Dodgers visits pushed the home team’s minimum price to an average of $64.65 and $62.51. Mets home games against the Yankees had an average minimum price of $159, against a Mets season average of $36.83. Our medians damp those spikes.
Average MLB ticket price vs. get-in price
“Average MLB ticket price” means different things depending on who reports it, and the numbers differ a lot.
The TicketScanner figure is a floor. The $23 league median is the cheapest seat for the typical tracked game, on game day or the day before, before fees. About half of the 520 games had a lower get-in.
An average of the cheapest seat runs higher. A Doc’s Sports study published in March 2026 recorded SeatGeek’s lowest listed price for 2,426 regular-season games in one preseason snapshot. The average was $34.82 and the median $29; the study noted that a small number of very expensive games pull the average up. Those prices were recorded weeks or months before each game, and our lower game-day figure fits the pattern in our timing data that typical games soften as game day nears.
A median of all resale tickets runs much higher. Gametime’s preseason 2025 data put team median resale prices between $44 (Marlins) and $181 (Athletics), because it measures the median of resale tickets, not only the cheapest. For 2026 Opening Day games, Gametime reported a median sold price of $154 and a mean of $177. Neither report says whether fees are included.
Family cost studies such as Action Network’s add parking, food and drinks for four, so they answer what a game night costs, not what a ticket costs.
How to pay less for MLB tickets
Pick the cheaper team in a two-team market. Ticket prices can differ substantially within the same metro area: Angels ($6) vs. Dodgers ($59) in the Los Angeles area, Mets ($13) vs. Yankees ($25) in New York and White Sox ($20) vs. Cubs ($48) in Chicago.
Pick the opponent. A Yankees or Dodgers visit or a local rivalry is the most expensive game on most calendars. A non-rival opponent on a weeknight is usually the floor.
Pick the day. In TicketScanner’s day-of-week data, Monday and Tuesday games were the cheapest and Friday and Saturday the most expensive. The breakdown is in our guide to the best time to buy MLB tickets.
Time the purchase. For ordinary games, get-in prices tended to drift lower in the final couple of weeks, though rivalry games, giveaway nights and pennant-race dates often break that pattern. See do tickets get cheaper closer to the game.
Check team passes. The Diamondbacks’ 2026 Ballpark Pass covered every home game for $299, and the Guardians’ 2026 pass cost $59 a month, including fees, for a standing-room ticket to every home game that month. See whether they return for 2027.
Compare the total price including mandatory fees. The get-in here is before fees, and fees differ by site. TicketScanner shows each tracked site’s price for the same game side by side.
Using this ranking to plan 2027
Treat the table as a guide to which teams usually have a low floor, not a 2027 price list. The strongest signals come from teams that ranked the same way in our game-day data and the preseason Doc’s Sports snapshot: the Angels and Marlins at the bottom, the Dodgers and Red Sox at the top. Teams whose price follows their record, like the Mets, can move fast.
