How Much Are MLB Playoff Tickets? Prices by Round (2026 Postseason)
by TicketScanner Team
Key Takeaways
- 2025 Wild Card: the cheapest resale seats in New York and Chicago started at $92 to $104 including fees. In 2023, Wild Card Game 1 get-ins ranged from $14 to about $199.
- 2025 Division Series get-ins ran $81 to $341 and 2025 LCS get-ins $82 to $390, including fees, depending on the city and the game. The 2025 World Series Game 3 get-in at Dodger Stadium was $624.
- Potential clinching games often cost more than earlier games in the same series in 2025. In the ALCS, Seattle’s Game 3 started at $241 and a potential Game 5 at $390.
- Tickets for “if necessary” games that are never played are refunded (or credited, for many season members) by the team or by major marketplaces, but the route and timing depend on where you bought.
How much are MLB playoff tickets?
Based on 2025 postseason reporting, the cheapest Wild Card seats started at $92 to $104 including fees in New York and Chicago, Division Series get-ins ran $81 to $341, LCS get-ins ran $82 to $390, and the cheapest 2025 World Series Game 3 seat at Dodger Stadium was listed at $624.
That is several times a regular-season ticket. The figures come from snapshots published by the New York Post (via Yahoo Sports) and FOX 11 Los Angeles, and they moved daily. TicketScanner will add live 2026 postseason get-in prices for Wild Card and Division Series games once they are listed on its MLB page; until then, every playoff price in this guide is a past-year figure labeled by year.
MLB playoff ticket prices by round, 2023 to 2025
TicketScanner has no postseason price history yet, so the numbers below come from published reporting. Each is a snapshot of the cheapest listed seat at the time the outlet checked, not a final sale price.

| World Series | 2024, Game 1 at Dodger Stadium | $1,191 (Vivid Seats), $1,211 (StubHub) | CBS Sports |
Sources are listed at the end of the article. Prices marked “incl. fees” were reported with fees included; TicketScanner’s own get-in figures are before fees, so the two are not directly comparable.
Three patterns stand out.
The matchup, team and city can matter more than the round. In 2025, the Brewers’ NLCS home games started at $82, lower than any Wild Card game in the table from that year, while Phillies NLDS tickets started at $277. In 2023, Wild Card Game 1 get-ins ranged from $14 in Minneapolis to about $199 in Philadelphia. Team, city and matchup all move the price, and so does the state of the series: Yankee Stadium’s ALDS Game 4 get-in fell from $129 on Oct. 3 to $81 on Oct. 6, 2025.
Potential clinching games often cost more within a series in 2025. The 2025 Mariners ALDS home games started at $219 for Game 1, $227 for Game 2 and $338 for a potential Game 5. In the NLCS, Milwaukee’s Game 1 started at $82 and a potential Game 7 at $226. The same pattern showed up in Toronto’s ALCS listings: $90 USD for Game 2, $184 for Game 6 and $263 for Game 7. There were exceptions: Philadelphia’s NLDS Game 1 started at $341 and a potential Game 5 at $317, and in Los Angeles a potential NLCS Game 5 ($169) was listed a dollar below Game 4 ($170).
World Series tickets can sit in a much higher price range. For the Dodgers, the jump from the LCS to the World Series was larger than any earlier step: the 2025 get-in for Game 3 at Dodger Stadium ($624) was more than six times the $101 starting price for their NLCS home games about two weeks earlier. The two figures come from different marketplaces, so treat the ratio as approximate. A dedicated World Series price guide is coming; this article stops at the headline numbers.
TicketScanner’s baseline: what a regular-season ticket costs
To see how large the playoff premium is, compare it with regular-season prices from TicketScanner’s own tracking.
| Sample | Games | Median get-in | 25th percentile | 75th percentile |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Completed MLB games, price on game day (mid-July to Sept. 13, 2026) | 283 | $20 | $13 | $35 |
| Late-season games TicketScanner tracks, Sept. 14-26 (snapshot Sept. 13; the regular season ends Sept. 27) | 55 | $16 | $12 | $26 |
Source: TicketScanner daily price tracking, completed games from mid-July to Sept. 13, 2026, and upcoming games as of Sept. 13, 2026.
A typical MLB game-day get-in was $20. Even allowing for fees, the 2025 Wild Card get-ins in New York and Chicago were several times that. The late-September slate is cheaper still at $16, likely because many of those games involve teams already out of the race.
TicketScanner does not have any 2026 postseason games listed yet, so it has no postseason prices to report. It will add live get-in prices for Wild Card and Division Series games once they are listed at ticketscanner.live/mlb.
How TicketScanner measured this
TicketScanner records the get-in price, the cheapest listed ticket for a game across the resale marketplaces it monitors, once each morning at about 9 a.m. ET. Prices are in USD before fees. The game-day figure is the median across 283 completed games of each game’s game-day get-in. The late-September figure is the median get-in across 55 upcoming games in a Sept. 13, 2026, snapshot. No postseason games are included in either sample.
Coverage note: TicketScanner tracks a subset of MLB games, not every game on the schedule. For example, it tracks 55 upcoming MLB games scheduled Sept. 14 to 26, while MLB plays about 15 games a day. The figures above describe the games TicketScanner tracks.
2026 MLB postseason format and dates
Twelve teams make the postseason, six from each league. The top two seeds in each league get a bye to the Division Series. The No. 3 seed plays the No. 6 seed and the No. 4 seed plays the No. 5 seed in the Wild Card Series, and the higher seed hosts all three games.
The regular season ends Sunday, Sept. 27, per Ticketmaster’s MLB guide, which leaves one off day, Monday, Sept. 28, before Game 1 of the Wild Card Series.
| Round | Format | 2026 dates |
|---|---|---|
| Wild Card Series | Best of three, all at higher seed | Sept. 29, Sept. 30, Oct. 1 (if necessary) |
| ALDS | Best of five (2-2-1) | Oct. 3, 5, 7, 8 (if necessary), 10 (if necessary) |
| NLDS | Best of five (2-2-1) | Oct. 3, 4, 6, 7 (if necessary), 9 (if necessary) |
| NLCS | Best of seven (2-3-2) | Starts Sun. Oct. 11; Game 7 (if necessary) Mon. Oct. 19 |
| ALCS | Best of seven (2-3-2) | Starts Mon. Oct. 12; Game 7 (if necessary) Tue. Oct. 20 |
| World Series | Best of seven (2-3-2) | Fri. Oct. 23 to Sat. Oct. 31 (Games 5-7 if necessary) |

Buying strategy by round
Wild Card tickets
The Wild Card window is short. Final seeds can come down to the last day of the regular season, Sept. 27, and Game 1 is Sept. 29. Teams sell potential home games before the matchup is known, so buyers often commit before they know the opponent or even the host city.
That favors flexible local buyers. If your team can host, buy Game 1 or Game 2 early only if the price is acceptable to you now, since the 2023 Wild Card get-ins above ranged from $14 to about $199. The cheapest listing can be standing room: at Wrigley Field in 2025, the $96 get-in was a standing room pass and the cheapest seat was $104.
ALDS and NLDS tickets
The top two seeds wait through the Wild Card round and open at home on Oct. 3. Their opponent is unknown until the Wild Card Series ends, which can be as late as Oct. 1. Games 1 and 2 are at the higher seed, so those fans have the most notice. Lower-seed fans host Games 3 and 4, and Game 4 is already “if necessary.”
LCS and potential clinchers
Potential clinching games were often listed at higher prices. In the 2025 snapshots, Milwaukee’s potential NLCS Game 7 started at $226, nearly 2.8 times its $82 Game 1, and Seattle’s potential ALCS Game 5 started at $390 against $241 for Game 3. If the price matters more than the moment, an earlier home game in the series was often the cheaper buy in 2025.
Do not count on a late price drop. Waiting has often worked for ordinary regular-season games, but postseason games are the highest-demand games of the year, and the Mariners, for one, expect single-game inventory to be extremely limited. For how regular-season prices behave as game day approaches, and which games tend to hold their price, see do tickets get cheaper closer to the game.
Compare before you buy
The same game can have a different get-in on each marketplace, and posted prices may or may not include fees. Compare the total price including mandatory fees across sites. For regular-season timing, see the best time to buy MLB tickets.
“If necessary” games: how refunds work
Wild Card Game 3, Division Series Games 4 and 5, and LCS and World Series Games 5 through 7 are all “if necessary.” If the series ends first, the game is never played. Refund policies depend on where you bought the tickets.
From the team. The Rays’ 2026 postseason terms say single-game tickets bought through the team site or the MLB Ballpark app are refunded automatically within seven to 10 business days. Season members get a credit by default and can request a refund instead. Mariners season members who paid for postseason strips get refunds for unplayed games within 30 days after Seattle’s postseason ends, or can apply the amount to a 2027 membership.
From Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster’s help center says tickets to unplayed playoff games are refunded.
From resale marketplaces. A May 2026 report on NBA playoff tickets from The Oklahoman (USA Today Network) found StubHub automatically refunds “the ticket price and fees to the original payment method” for contingent games that are not played, and SeatGeek customers wait three to 10 business days for an automatic refund. Those are platform-wide policies, not sport-specific ones. The Rays tell resale buyers to contact those sites directly for their policies.
Two details can cause confusion. Some teams sell tickets by home game number, not series game number; the Phillies say a “Home Game #” ticket is valid for that home game “regardless of the date the game is played.” And a rainout does not trigger a refund: under the Rays’ terms, the ticket admits you to the rescheduled date.
How to get MLB postseason tickets
Teams sell their own postseason home games, in roughly this order.
- Season-ticket holders. The Mariners required 2026 season members to buy postseason ticket strips by Sept. 10 and say those strips are the only certain way to get postseason seats.
- Member and registered presales. Seattle’s member-only single-game presale for Wild Card and ALDS games opens Sept. 23. The Cubs run a “Fly the W” registration with random drawings for potential home games, and a deposit on 2027 season tickets gives access to half of Wrigley Field’s potential 2026 postseason games.
- Public sale, if any tickets remain.
- Resale, which opens as soon as holders list their seats.
The Mariners say single-game tickets are expected to be “extremely limited.” For dates and details of past on-sales, see when MLB tickets go on sale.
FAQ
How much are Wild Card tickets?
They can vary widely from game to game. In 2023, Wild Card Game 1 get-ins ranged from $14 in Minneapolis to about $199 in Philadelphia, per CBS Sports. In 2025, the cheapest Yankees-Red Sox Wild Card game started at $92 including fees.
Are ALDS and NLDS tickets more expensive than Wild Card tickets?
Often, but not always. In 2025, Phillies NLDS home games started at $277 and Mariners ALDS home games at $219, while Yankees ALDS home games started at $81 on Oct. 6 and Dodgers NLDS home games at $120, all including fees, per the New York Post.
Are MLB playoff tickets more expensive than regular-season tickets?
In this comparison, yes. The median game-day get-in for regular-season games TicketScanner tracked from mid-July to Sept. 13, 2026, was $20 before fees. The cheapest 2025 Wild Card seats in New York and Chicago started at $92 to $104 including fees.
Do I get a refund if an “if necessary” game is not played?
Yes, through the original seller. Team purchases are refunded or credited automatically (the Rays quote seven to 10 business days), Ticketmaster refunds unplayed playoff games, and StubHub and SeatGeek refund contingent games automatically. Under team terms such as the Rays’, a rainout is rescheduled, not refunded.
How much are World Series tickets?
The 2024 World Series Game 1 get-in at Dodger Stadium was $1,191 on Vivid Seats, per CBS Sports. In 2025, the cheapest Game 3 seat in Los Angeles was listed at $624 on TickPick. A separate World Series guide will cover this round in detail.
When do MLB postseason tickets go on sale?
Team by team in September, starting with season-ticket holders and presales. The Mariners’ 2026 member presale for Wild Card and ALDS games opens Sept. 23. See when MLB tickets go on sale for more.
