StubHub Fees: How StubHub Sets Its Buyer Fee and What Gets Added at Checkout

by TicketScanner Team

Compare today’s fee-included lowest prices on Gametime and Vivid Seats for every NFL game on TicketScanner’s NFL page.

Key Takeaways

  • StubHub says the price it displays includes all mandatory fees, so checkout should add only tax, shipping or optional add-ons.
  • StubHub publishes no fee rate. At its checkout for five NFL, NBA and NHL games on Oct. 8, 2026, fees on the cheapest seat were a median 19.7% of the seller’s price, from 19.1% to 25.3%.
  • Sales tax showed up as its own line at checkout, $1.31 to $4.65 per ticket, and the order total was rounded up to the next whole dollar.
  • None of StubHub’s 60 most recent English Trustpilot reviews named fees as the main complaint; 9 were about parking passes, so check the garage address before you pay.

How much does StubHub add at checkout?

StubHub’s shown price already includes its mandatory fees, according to its June 4, 2026, newsroom explainer, so what can be added at checkout is sales tax and, if you choose them, delivery or optional add-ons. That matches what StubHub’s checkout showed at the five games we checked: a Price Breakdown with Tickets, Fees, Taxes and Total price.

Tax ran from $1.31 per ticket at the Bulls game in Chicago to $4.65 at the Chiefs game in Kansas City. The Total price was also rounded up to the next whole dollar. Two tickets at the Eagles game added up to $383.42 and showed as $384; at all five games the rounding added less than $1 per order.

What StubHub says about its fees

StubHub’s newsroom explainer on ticket fees makes three points that matter for buyers.

First, the displayed price already carries the mandatory fees: “The price displayed on StubHub includes all mandatory fees.”

Second, the fee is a share of the price, not a flat charge: “StubHub’s buyer fee is calculated as a percentage of that price,” meaning the seller’s price. A more expensive ticket therefore carries a higher fee in dollar terms than a cheaper one. The article does not give the percentage.

Third, StubHub names two buyer fee types, service fees and delivery fees. StubHub says service fees cover its infrastructure and the protections behind your tickets, including its buyer protection program, FanProtect. The explainer does not give an amount for either type.

We found no StubHub page with a fee rate. Percentages that circulate online come from third-party sites, and we did not use them.

What the percentage fee means when you compare

Because the fee scales with the seller’s price, comparing StubHub with another site works best seat for seat. A cheaper section on StubHub is not only cheaper in face terms; its fee is smaller too. A pricier section carries a fee that grows with it.

For the same reason, an order of several tickets carries a fee on each ticket. Compare the per-ticket price and the final checkout total for the quantity you plan to buy.

What the rules require StubHub to show

StubHub falls under the federal FTC fee rule in force since May 12, 2025: a resale marketplace that shows a seller’s price must also show the total, and only taxes, shipping and optional add-ons may sit outside it. How the rule works, and the New York and California rules on top of it, is covered in our ticket site fee comparison.

What we measured at StubHub’s checkout

For the cheapest seat at each of five games, bought as a pair, StubHub’s fee came to a median 19.7% of the seller’s price.

Game Seat Seller’s price Fees Fee share Tax
Panthers at Eagles, Oct. 18 (NFL) Section 240, Row 7 $157.50 $31.10 19.7% $3.11
Chargers at Chiefs, Oct. 18 (NFL) Section 306, Row 28 $243.00 $46.49 19.1% $4.65
Knicks at Celtics, Oct. 23 (NBA) Section BAL320, Row 13 $159.41 $31.44 19.7% $3.14
Ducks at Rangers, Oct. 19 (NHL) Section 415, Row 2 $78.30 $17.62 22.5% $1.76
Knicks at Bulls, Oct. 28 (NBA) Section 306, Row 16 $51.87 $13.12 25.3% $1.31

Source: StubHub checkout Price Breakdown, cheapest seat for two tickets, recorded Oct. 8, 2026. Per ticket. Fee share is fees divided by the seller’s price.

StubHub calls its buyer fee a percentage of the seller’s price, but the share was not flat. It was 19.1% on a $243.00 seat and 25.3% on a $51.87 seat. A minimum fee or a fixed part would produce that pattern; StubHub does not say which, so we cannot tell. In dollars the pricier seat still carried the bigger fee, $46.49 against $13.12.

Measured the same way, SeatGeek’s median at the same five games was 21.7%. Gametime’s, read from its listing pages rather than a checkout, was 16.3% across seven games. With fees included and before tax, StubHub’s cheapest seat was below SeatGeek’s at all five games, by $2.82 to $11.52 per ticket. These were different seats on each site on one evening, so treat it as a snapshot; the fee comparison has the game-by-game table.

Parking passes and add-on charges

On StubHub, the add-ons buyers write about most are parking passes. Nine of the 60 most recent English Trustpilot reviews, posted Oct. 6-8, 2026, were about parking. Reviewers described:

  • Being moved to a different garage they said was farther from the venue (two reviews, one calling it a “free upgrade” that was over a mile away).
  • Paying a second time at the garage after buying a pass on StubHub (three reviews).
  • A pass that, one reviewer said, was not available until three hours before the show, leading them to buy pricier parking.
  • A reminder email that, one reviewer said, pinned the wrong garage on a map.

These are the reviewers’ own claims, which we did not verify. Fees came up as a secondary complaint in four reviews, and three of those four were about paying extra for parking.

A five-star reviewer put the fee point this way: “I’m not a fan of the add on charges.” That reviewer still gave five stars.

If you add a parking pass, read its address on the pass itself, check how it is delivered, and treat it as its own purchase when you compare totals.

How to check your StubHub total

The figure to compare is the total shown at StubHub’s checkout before you pay, with tax and any delivery charge, for the same section and quantity you would buy elsewhere. The full step-by-step method is in our ticket site fee comparison. On StubHub, pick your delivery method before you read the total, since delivery is one of its named fee types.

What StubHub’s review numbers show

StubHub has a Trustpilot score of 4.1 from 27,647 reviews, 11,238 of them from the past 12 months. Five-star reviews make up 54.6% and one-star reviews 30.2%. Trustpilot’s reply figure for StubHub (period not stated) shows 0 replies out of 2,098 negative reviews. On the US App Store, the StubHub app is rated 4.76 from 1,430,583 ratings.

Of the 60 recent reviews, 40 came through StubHub’s own invitations, and 3 of those gave one or two stars. Of the 20 written without an invitation, 19 gave one or two stars. Delivery or transfer was the main complaint in nine reviews, and seats that differed from the listing in four. For more, see our StubHub reviews article.

How we measured

On Oct. 8, 2026, we read each site’s own help, fee and terms pages and recorded what they state about fees. We also opened ticket listings without an account and without buying anything. Gametime shows the fee split on its listing page: we recorded the seller’s price, fees and total for 1,754 seated listings across seven NFL, NHL and NBA games. On StubHub, SeatGeek and Vivid Seats, we chose the cheapest seated listing for two tickets at five NFL, NBA and NHL games and went to the first checkout page, stopping at the email field without entering anything. StubHub and SeatGeek showed the ticket price and fees as separate lines there; Vivid Seats showed only the fee-included price. We could not view a fee breakdown on Ticketmaster or TickPick. Fee percentages here are fees divided by the seller’s price, per ticket, before tax.

On the same day we recorded StubHub’s Trustpilot and App Store figures and sorted its 60 most recent English Trustpilot reviews by main complaint.

FAQ

Does StubHub include fees in the price?

StubHub says the displayed price includes all mandatory fees. Under the FTC rule, only taxes, shipping and optional add-ons may be left out of the up-front total.

What percentage does StubHub charge buyers?

StubHub says the buyer fee is a percentage of the seller’s price but does not publish the rate. At its checkout for five games on Oct. 8, 2026, fees on the cheapest seat were a median 19.7% of the seller’s price, from 19.1% to 25.3%, with the cheaper seats at the high end.

Does StubHub add tax at checkout?

Yes, where it applies. At the five games we checked, StubHub’s Price Breakdown listed taxes on their own line, from $1.31 to $4.65 per ticket.

Why are StubHub fees higher on expensive tickets?

Because StubHub sets the buyer fee as a percentage of the seller’s price, a pricier seat carries a larger fee in dollars.

What is the StubHub delivery fee?

StubHub lists delivery fees as one of its two buyer fee types. Its explainer gives no amount, so check the final checkout total after selecting your delivery method.

What did recent reviewers say about StubHub parking passes?

Nine of the 60 most recent Trustpilot reviews were about parking. Reviewers described being sent to a different garage, paying again at the garage and a pass that was not available until shortly before the show.
